UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta is stepping boldly onto the world stage by launching a Double Degree Master’s Program in partnership with the University of Edinburgh and SOAS University of London. This initiative, fully funded by the Beasiswa Indonesia Bangkit (BIB), targets Indonesian alumni and rising Muslim scholars.
The two-year program combines one academic year at UIN Sunan Kalijaga’s Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies Graduate Program with a second year abroad: either in the MSc Globalised Muslim World at Edinburgh or specialized Islamic programs at SOAS.
“This is not just academic mobility—it’s an investment in globally-minded Muslim thinkers,” said Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan, Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga. “We’re preparing scholars who can engage Islam in global contexts with depth, nuance, and confidence.”
The program’s selection process runs from June 4 to July 31, 2025, with full details available at beasiswa.kemenag.go.id.
This initiative marks a strategic milestone in the internationalization of Islamic higher education. It positions UIN Sunan Kalijaga as a progressive, outward-looking institution ready to amplify the voice of Islam Nusantara on the global stage.
