Jakarta, August 29, 2025 — Indonesia’s Minister of Religious
Affairs and Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque, Prof. Dr. Nasaruddin Umar, expressed
deep condolences following the death of Affan Kurniawan, an online motorcycle
taxi driver who died during a demonstration in Jakarta.
“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun. I convey my
heartfelt condolences. May Allah SWT accept his good deeds and grant him a
place among the syuhada,” said Minister Nasaruddin in Jakarta on Friday.
The Minister emphasized the importance of
justice in addressing the incident, urging accountability and due legal
process. He also offered prayers for the bereaved family, wishing them patience
and strength in this difficult time.
Minister Nasaruddin further praised President
Prabowo Subianto’s extraordinary concern, including the government’s commitment
to supporting Affan’s family.
He reflected that Affan’s loss transcends
private sorrow, serving as a reminder of the nation’s enduring obligation to
