UIN Sunan Kalijaga Awarded Highest National Rating for Sexual Violence Prevention

Yogyakarta — UIN Sunan Kalijaga has earned the top “Embedded Culture” rating from Indonesia’s National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan) for its efforts in preventing and addressing sexual violence on campus. The recognition places the university at the forefront of national initiatives to create safe and just academic environments.

The rating reflects not only administrative compliance but also the integration of sexual violence prevention into daily campus life. Policies were assessed through planning, implementation, evaluation, and direct public participation—demonstrating that UIN Sunan Kalijaga’s approach is both systemic and effective.

“This achievement is the result of collective effort, from volunteers spreading awareness in student programs to strong institutional support from university leadership,” said Nur Afni Khafsoh, head of the university’s Integrated Service Center for Sexual Violence Prevention and Response (PLT PPKS). She emphasized that the recognition motivates the university to further build an inclusive and safe learning space.

The award also signals a broader shift in higher education governance, where evidence-based policies and cultural transformation go hand in hand. For UIN Sunan Kalijaga, the challenge ahead is to expand networks, sustain progress, and reinforce its role as a model for dignity-driven education. (humassk)
