Yogyakarta — UIN Sunan Kalijaga
celebrated its 74th anniversary with a heartfelt tradition of honoring retired
faculty and staff through home visits organized by the university’s Dharma
Wanita Persatuan (DWP). The initiative reflected the institution’s gratitude
toward those who dedicated their careers to shaping its legacy.
Led by DWP Chair Prof. Euis
Noorhaidi on September 18–19, delegations visited former leaders—including rectors,
vice-rectors, deans, and bureau heads—as well as long-serving staff members.
Rector Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan officiated the departure ceremony alongside
university leaders and DWP members, underlining the importance of remembering
predecessors as part of UIN’s academic culture.
During the visits, retirees warmly
welcomed the delegations, expressing pride in the university’s progress and
sharing hopes for its continued growth. Rector Noorhaidi called the initiative
“an essential tradition of respect,” while Prof. Euis stressed that the program
served as a reminder that the contributions of past generations remain deeply
valued.
Beyond the home visits, the
anniversary program also included social initiatives such as support for
orphans and the distribution of 200 food packages to local communities,
reaffirming UIN Sunan Kalijaga’s mission to combine academic excellence with
social responsibility. (Humassk)
