UIN Sunan Kalijaga Delegates Join Elite Global Training on Entrepreneurship and Policy in India

From July 3 to 16, 2025, three distinguished lecturers from the Department of Islamic Financial Management, Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, participated in an international training program titled Entrepreneurship Education, Knowledge Management, and Policy Research. This intensive academic initiative was organized under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme, an international capacity building platform sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The course was hosted by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and brought together delegates from twenty five countries representing government bodies, private institutions, academic circles, business incubators, and entrepreneurial ecosystems.

The Indonesian representatives, Izra Berakon, Anniza Citra Prajasari, and Agus Faisal, actively contributed to the two-week academic program, which covered a wide range of topics including entrepreneurial motivation, business feasibility analysis, curriculum development, science and technology-based entrepreneurship, education policy, and village enterprise models. These subjects were delivered through a combination of lectures, psychometric assessments, group activities, field visits, and cross-cultural academic exchanges. The program was led by Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director General of EDII, with Ms. Harmeet Kaur Dawar serving as the ITEC Program Coordinator and Dr. Pankaj Bharti as the Program Director. This immersive experience was further enriched by the presentation of country-specific policy papers and collaborative discussions with international participants.

The participation of the Indonesian delegates was made possible through institutional support and administrative endorsements. Prof. Dr. Misnen Ardiansyah, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, and Dr. Darmawan, Head of the Department of Islamic Financial Management, provided formal approval by issuing the necessary permission letters for participation. Furthermore, Ms. Syayyidah Maftuhatul Jannah, Head of the Language Laboratory, furnished a formal certificate affirming the delegates’ English language proficiency and academic communication competence. The team also expresses its sincere appreciation to Mr. Rizaldy, Education Assistant at the Embassy of India in Jakarta, whose assistance in the visa process, course orientation, and travel logistics was instrumental to the delegates’ successful engagement.

This academic involvement aligns directly with the graduate profile envisioned by the Department of Islamic Financial Management, which emphasizes the cultivation of entrepreneurial leaders who are not only theoretically proficient but also possess practical international exposure. By participating in this globally recognized program, the Indonesian delegates have significantly enriched their pedagogical insight, strengthened international academic collaboration, and contributed to the broader mission of fostering innovation driven, ethically grounded, and policy aware entrepreneurs in the Islamic finance and business sectors.(Iz Febi)
